LMAO

It’s always been a disaster, hasn’t it? Well, actually…

I remember when it wasn’t. There were just a few of us…

Sometimes I want to go back to those days, but there’s some new users that I really wouldn’t want to have never found UTAU, because that would be sad. :c

I don’t remember UTAU fandom not being like that because the dramus started right before I decided (AKA had a computer decent enough) to participate in it.

Or maybe I’m the cause for all the drama OMG *shotded for joke*

Hm, maybe it wasn’t quite a fandom when I started! It was mainly me, Mx and Kit, that Chao person that voices Zanda, Mae, Chii, and uh, a few other people I don’t remember *waves hands pathetically* at least, as far as Overseas went. There were a bunch of new users when I put up my first set of shitty tutorials, so maybe it’s not JUST YOUR FAULT, ALINE.

We did it. We broke the chance of a good fandom, didn’t we? ALL OUR FAULT.

Quick, someone spank us. Spank us good. <3

*Cracks the whip in a totally non-erotic way*

Honestly the mic discussion wasn’t really that bad.

But I’ll be stealing that gif to use from now on thank you

I feel like someone should make an UTAU creepypasta related to that FUCK OFF UST screenshot

you see, I found this UST, it wasn’t linked to any video and I found it on Google so it was kind of sketchy

then I opened it and it looked like that

I selected all and clicked play and then suddenly I heard a woman’s voice begging for help and the screams of dying children everywhere

Regardless of what people say, when it comes to UTAU, the mic is a factor.

It is only part of what makes a good UTAU, but it is a part.

There are AMAZING banks recorded on logitech, or built-in, or Rockband or whatever else. I’m not denying this! Baionoto Kenji, Kanochi Neko, Makune Hachi are only a few that I can name off the top of my head, only because I know what they were recorded on. I should also ask what Fura uses since Shura’s one of the clearest UTAUs I’ve ever heard in my life. Hell, I recommend certain Logitech headsets to people on budget who ask me (but the HEADSET, not the desktop mics, those are pretty bad)

But after hearing stuff recorded using AT2020, Yeti, Snowball and others, I cannot help but wonder how some UTAUs would sound on those. The fact is that you’re not gonna record something of Namine Ritsu’s crispness (Look at Canon’s setup, just look.) on a laptop webcam. But, depending on what you get, you could get there with a slightly more expensive Skype headset. And you’d hit the nail on the head if you have a mic specifically made for recording vocals that has a nice, flat frequency response.

I went from using my built-in laptop mic, to using a mid-grade Audio Technica, to the Yeti. I’ve made my friends record on all manner of pen mics, headsets, you name it. There is a definite change in the clarity of recordings, pickup of background noise, and included static on EACH one, and it’s simply easier to avoid static and background noise with a cardioid mic (such as the AT and the Yeti).

The OVERALL quality of an UTAU is CERTAINLY not directly proportional to the mic. There’s many other factors in UTAU quality. But the fact is that different mics affect the actual clarity, tone and cleanness of the base recordings in different ways.

No, you shouldn’t go and buy a $50-$200 mic if you can’t justify it beyond casual UTAUing. If you podcast, sing, do media stuff, or just for some reason have the money to blow and are that serious about UTAU, then yes, I’ll stick with recommending the AT2020 or Yeti because they are good mics.

???

Nobody’s saying otherwise? Or am i missing something from my dashboard?

Just clarifying myself because

Wait 2012 people still implying the quality of an utau library recordings is directly proportional of the Mic’s quality/price only.

Allow me too as well

Wait 2012 people still implying the quality of an utau library recordings is directly proportional of the Mic’s quality/price only.

To the

why do so many overseas utaus sound the same do they like all use the same shitty mic because the quality sounds the same throughout almost all of them

?????

I realized you said “only”

But I temporarily forgot the OP had mentioned mics

So paranoid me thought you were referencing my post

apologies

okay okay last thing i'm saying about the mic and utau thing is that if you're using a built-in mic and you're expecting it to sound great:

realize that most built-in mics are used for just chatting and not vocal recordings thank

This is why rerecording Hibanane Chiyoko hasn’t happened in the last 2 years
