Seriously though, Homestuck is amaizng

not just because of its humor

but because

it is actually the first widely read piece of literature/story that actually acurately depicts and represents this generation.

not only with the tumblr mockery its making here -which is amazing by the way, im fairly impressed that even as noon-part of the community he was able to mock the different segments so well- but because its changes as well. its become more tumblr oriented now, because thats where the fandom is, thats the site and style we’ve moved to and he’s representing.

At the beginning he used a lot of instant messaging - which many people were basing their interactions on at that time. He had forum-based shoutouts as well, and realistic sites the kids would have used at that time.

He is changing his style of comic to fit the form of media we are using to socialize and communicate through and accurately create a comic fitting and personalized to US the readers.

And its amazing

As far as I know, NEVER has an author done such on so big and accurately a scale as Homestuck. And certainly not as popular.

This generation is so new, the internet based interactions is something most authors didn’t grow up with like us. But he’s giving us something that we can relate to, that is our life, that is us. And it is so fantastic and amazing, you can’t really completely understand how grand a scale this is.

Homestuck is amazing.

Guys listen, the Alpha trolls are not 13.

I keep seeing people posting reminders that all the Homestuck kids and trolls are only 13 years old.

It’s been stated several times now that the Alpha trolls spent three sweeps in their fruitless game session before they finally figured out how to Scratch it and Meenah blew them all the fuck up.

To refresh your memory, 6 sweeps = ~13 Earth years, which means a sweep is roughly two and a sixth Earth years.

The Alpha trolls spent 6 and a half years in their game session before dying, which puts them at 19.5 years old in their dream bubble bodies. So even ignoring the fact that time works differently in the dream bubbles and they’ve been dwelling there as ghosts for like, an eternity, they’re the oldest player characters in Homestuck so far.

You can tell that work was put in to reflect this, as their sprites and talksprites are generally taller and more mature-looking than the others. It seems that Hussie, with the opportunity to finally introduce us to ‘new’ characters, wanted to represent the older parts of the Homestuck fanbase this time, which ties in with the fact that the Beta trolls represented internet stereotypes from a few years ago while these new ones reflect Tumblr stereotypes that are prominent today.

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU
